Pat McNally

Daniel Patrick McNally

“Pat” was born and raised in eastern North Carolina in the town of Greenville. In 1995 he moved to Raleigh where he attended North Carolina State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (Class of 1999) and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (Class of 2000). Pat then earned his law degree from Campbell University in 2004 and passed the Bar Exam later that summer.

In 2004, Pat began practicing law with the firm then known as Gay, Stroud & Jackson. When Donna Stroud left the firm later that year to serve on the bench, Pat took over Mrs. Stroud’s domestic practice, focusing most of his early years on divorce, child custody and child support, as well as equitable distribution and alimony. In January of 2010, Pat became a partner and the firm became known as Gay, Jackson & McNally.

Pat’s practice still focuses on family law matters such as divorce, equitable distribution and alimony as well as child support and child custody. His expertise also extends into general civil litigation, facilitating real estate transactions, preparing wills and other estate documents as well as representing clients facing traffic violations.

Daniel Patrick McNally joined the firm in 2004.

Our History

A native of Zebulon and member of the charter class of Campbell University School of Law, Andy W. Gay began practicing law in Eastern Wake County in 1980. In 1995, he and Donna Stroud founded Gay & Stroud in a restored historic home called Patience Hall in downtown Zebulon. In 1996, Darren Jackson joined the firm, which changed its name to Gay, Stroud & Jackson in 1999. In 2004, Pat McNally joined the firm shortly before Donna Stroud was elected to the Wake County District Court bench. In 2010, the firm changed its name to Gay, Jackson & McNally, and continued to operate under that name until Mr. Jackson was appointed to the Court of Appeals in early 2021. Shortly thereafter, the firm changed its name to Gay & McNally, which is the name it operates under today.

A Partner and a Friend…

With great sadness, we lost our dear friend and senior partner, Andy Gay. Since Andy’s untimely passing in February 2022, Pat McNally has become the firm’s senior practicing attorney.
